122,000 Youth to Receive NYOTA Funds as Ruto Announces Ksh3 Billion Disbursement Date

The announcement was made on Monday, July 6, after the President received an update at State House on the progress of the programme, which is being implemented by the State Department for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
According to Ruto, the nationwide launch will take place at 18 venues, with beneficiaries from all 47 counties expected to take part.
The government has allocated Ksh3 billion for the latest disbursement. Every beneficiary will receive Ksh25,000 during this phase.
Those receiving the funds had already been given Ksh25,000 earlier this year. This means each beneficiary will have received a total of Ksh50,000 under the programme.
President Ruto also confirmed that all beneficiaries had completed the required business development training, making them eligible for the second payment.
The announcement comes after weeks of waiting following delays in releasing the funds. The programme, which is fully funded by the World Bank, had faced pressure after the expected payment timeline was missed.
Last month, World Bank officials met government representatives to discuss the implementation of the project and find solutions to challenges that had slowed down the release of funds.
President William Ruto has announced that the second phase of the NYOTA Business Support Programme will begin on Friday, July 10, bringing financial support to 122,000 young Kenyans across the country.
Cooperatives Principal Secretary Susan Mang’eni had earlier explained that the delay was caused by budget constraints after the programme was compressed into one financial year. She had initially said the money would be released by June 30, but the payments were pushed back by about 10 days.
Unlike the first rollout, where payments were made in phases, the government says the second disbursement will be launched simultaneously at 18 locations across Kenya, allowing beneficiaries from every county to access the programme at the same time.
