Who is Susan Kihika?

Susan Kihika is a Kenyan politician and lawyer who is the current governor of Nakuru County in 2025. She previously served as a senator from 2017 to 2022. She is known for her strong leadership and advocacy for women’s growth in society.

Background

Susan Kihika, from the Kikuyu community in Nakuru, was born in 1974 and died in 2025 at the age of 51. Her late father, Dixon Kihika Kimani, died in 2004 at the age of 74. He was also a famous politician who served in three different constituencies as a Member of Parliament in Nakuru North, Laikipia West, and Molo. She has a mother, Alice Kihika, who was Dixon Kihika’s second wife. She is among the 41 children of the veteran politician Dixon Kihika Kimani.

Education

She started primary school at Busara Forest View in Nyahururu and later attended Bishop Gatimu Ngadu Girls’ High School. In 1992, she traveled to the United States for further studies at the University of North Texas, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In 2006, she graduated from the School of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, with a law degree.
