Rev. Lucy Natasha Breaks Silence After Closing Her Church in Nairobi CBD

Popular Nairobi-based preacher Rev. Lucy Natasha has broken her silence after online speculation erupted over the closure of Empowerment Christian Church’s physical worship space in the city centre.
The church, which had been operating from the rooftop of Biashara Plaza at the junction of Moi Avenue and Biashara Street, recently vacated the premises, sparking claims on social media that the move was linked to financial difficulties or alleged money laundering.
However, Rev. Natasha has firmly dismissed the rumours, explaining that the church simply reached the end of a five-year lease agreement and chose not to renew it.

She says the decision was carefully planned and driven by long-term goals, not a crisis.
According to the televangelist, the ministry is now shifting focus from renting to owning property that will support its future growth.
“We are believing God for land where we can build a permanent church sanctuary, a television ministry centre, and a school. This is about building legacy and ensuring long-term impact,” Rev. Natasha explained.
She added that church services have not been interrupted, noting that Empowerment Christian Church continues to operate fully online.
Rev. Natasha further emphasized that the ministry has never depended solely on a physical building, pointing out that its digital platform reaches more than 10 million followers around the world.
