List of Youthful Members From Prominent Families Eyeing Various Elective Seats Ahead of 2027 Polls

With less than eighteen months remaining before the 2027 General Election, political activities in Kenya are slowly starting to take shape. As the country prepares for the next election cycle, several young leaders from well-known political families have already shown interest in joining elective politics.

According to a report published in the Daily Nation on Sunday, March 15, 2026, several youths from families that have played a major role in Kenyan politics since independence are planning to contest various seats in the upcoming elections.

Many of these individuals come from political dynasties that have remained influential in the country for decades. Their possible entry into active politics has sparked debate among Kenyans, especially on whether the next elections could once again highlight the long-standing discussion of “Hustlers versus Dynasties.”

Below are some of the youthful members from prominent families who are expected to seek elective positions in the 2027 elections.

1. George Ruto

George Ruto is the son of President William Ruto. In recent years, he has attracted public attention due to his business ventures, especially in the matatu transport sector in Nairobi. His growing influence among young people and business networks has led to speculation that he could soon enter active politics.

2. Winnie Odinga

Winnie Odinga is the daughter of the late Raila Odinga, one of Kenya’s most influential political figures. She has already been active in public service and currently serves as a Member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). Winnie has built a strong political profile and is expected to play a bigger role in Kenyan politics in the future.

3. Moses Mudavadi

Moses Mudavadi is associated with the family of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, a long-serving political leader from Western Kenya. Like other young politicians from established families, Moses is seen as part of the next generation expected to carry forward the family’s political legacy.

4. Boyd Were Ongondo

Boyd Were Ongondo comes from a well-known political background. His interest in politics reflects the growing involvement of young leaders who are seeking to represent their communities in the next election.

5. Brian Omondi Midiwo

8. Jaoko Oburu Odinga
