Family of late Gachagua’s brother writes to Ruto over alleged forged will and stolen estate

The family of the late former Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua has written to President William Ruto asking for help in a long-running dispute over his estate.
In a letter dated March 23, the family is requesting the President to order investigations into claims of fraud, forgery, and illegal handling of the late governor’s property.
They have raised concerns that a close relative has allegedly been interfering with the estate and trying to deny rightful beneficiaries their share of the inheritance.
According to the family, the dispute involves questionable transfer of assets, use of other people to access property, and forceful takeover of some of the deceased’s assets.
Contested will at the centre of dispute
At the centre of the disagreement is a will that the family says is fake and should not be accepted by law.
In their petition sent through the Office of the Attorney General, the family claims the will was made when Gachagua was very sick and unable to fully understand or sign legal documents.
They also argue that the document is suspicious because it contains the words “Draft Last Will and Testament,” which they say raises questions about its authenticity.
The family further claims that their relative has used influence and connections to control parts of the estate and block other family members from accessing property.
Allegations of manipulation
One of the daughters, Suzan Kirigo Nderitu, said that during the former governor’s final days at Royal Marsden Hospital, he was too weak to read, write, or understand legal documents.
The family says this condition proves that the will could not have been properly prepared or signed by him.
They also accuse the relative of misusing funds meant for family welfare and taking control of key properties linked to the estate.
Properties in dispute
Among the assets being disputed are a well-known garden resort and a beach resort, which the family now wants returned and properly included in the estate for fair distribution.
The family says they are seeking justice, fairness, and protection of the late governor’s legacy through government intervention.
The matter now awaits possible action from the relevant authorities following their appeal to the President.
