EPRA Cuts Diesel Price by Ksh5 as Petrol Prices Remain Unchanged

Motorists using diesel vehicles will pay less at the pump from Saturday, August 15, after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced a Ksh5 reduction in the price of diesel.
The new prices will remain in effect until September 14, 2026.
In Nairobi, diesel will now sell at Ksh217.86 per litre, down from Ksh222.86. The price of Super Petrol will remain at Ksh214.03, while kerosene will continue selling at Ksh191.38 per litre.
EPRA said the reduction in diesel prices followed a drop in the cost of imported diesel.
New fuel prices in major towns
In Mombasa, motorists will pay Ksh210.87 for Super Petrol, Ksh214.58 for diesel and Ksh188.09 for kerosene.
In Nakuru, Super Petrol will retail at Ksh212.92, diesel at Ksh217.27 and kerosene at Ksh190.81.
In Eldoret, Super Petrol will cost Ksh213.69 per litre, while diesel will retail at Ksh218.09 and kerosene at Ksh191.63.
In Kisumu, Super Petrol will cost Ksh213.69, diesel Ksh218.08 and kerosene Ksh191.63 per litre.
Why petrol prices did not fall
According to EPRA, the government provided additional fuel stabilisation support worth Ksh938 million. The support helped keep Super Petrol and kerosene prices at their current levels despite changes in the cost of imported petroleum products.
Diesel recorded the biggest drop in import costs during the latest review period.
EPRA reported that the average landed cost of diesel fell by 13.08 per cent, while kerosene dropped by 11.01 per cent.
However, the landed cost of Super Petrol went up by 6.99 per cent during the same period.
The new fuel prices will apply across the country from August 15 to September 14, 2026.
