Category of Youths Eligible for NYOTA Second Tranche Business Funds on June 27, 2026

Thousands of young Kenyans are expected to benefit from the second tranche of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) business start-up capital set for disbursement on June 27, 2026.

The funds are meant to help beneficiaries grow their businesses after receiving the first round of support.

Who Will Receive the Second NYOTA Payment?

The second payment targets young people aged between 18 and 29 years. However, persons with disabilities can qualify up to the age of 35 years.

Beneficiaries must have completed the required Business Development Support (BDS) training and the first mentorship programme. Those who received the first grant of KSh25,000 and are running active businesses are among those expected to receive the funds.

Youth with Lower Education Levels

The programme also targets unemployed and underemployed youth who have a Form Four certificate or lower level of education and face difficulties finding formal employment.

Persons with Disabilities

Young people living with disabilities and aged up to 35 years can also benefit, provided they have met the training requirements.

Vulnerable and Marginalised Communities

Youth from vulnerable communities, including registered refugees in areas such as Kakuma and Dadaab, are also part of the programme.

Counties Covered

Beneficiaries from counties that participated in the second phase of the programme are expected to receive the funds. These include Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, Machakos, Meru and Nyeri among others.

Young entrepreneurs from Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Kakamega and Bungoma are also among those moving to the second funding stage.

How the Money Will Be Shared

The June 27 payment is aimed at helping beneficiaries expand their businesses.

Out of the KSh25,000 payment:

  • KSh22,000 will be sent directly to the beneficiary for business use.
  • KSh3,000 will be deposited into the NSSF Haba Haba Savings account as mandatory savings.

Five Important Updates Beneficiaries Should Know

1. Nationwide Payment

Unlike the first round, all eligible beneficiaries across the country are expected to receive the money at the same time.

2. KSh3,000 Will Go to Savings

Beneficiaries will receive KSh22,000 directly, while KSh3,000 will automatically be saved through the NSSF Haba Haba Savings Scheme.

3. More Mentorship Support

After receiving the funds, beneficiaries will proceed to another mentorship stage aimed at helping them grow their businesses.

4. Transition to Other Government Funds

The second tranche is expected to mark the end of direct NYOTA grants. Beneficiaries will be encouraged to seek additional financing through programmes such as the Hustler Fund and the Youth Enterprise Development Fund.

5. Beware of Fraudsters

Youth have been advised not to pay anyone to access the funds. The programme is free, and beneficiaries should only rely on official communication channels for updates.
