Infotrak Poll: Ruto Tops 2027 Presidential Race as Kalonzo Comes Second

President William Ruto remains the leading choice for the 2027 presidential election, according to the latest Infotrak opinion poll.

The survey shows Ruto, the UDA party leader, has the highest support at 32 per cent, an improvement compared to the previous Infotrak poll conducted in August 2025.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is second with 13 per cent support.

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna are tied at 12 per cent each. Sifuna’s ranking comes shortly after he publicly expressed interest in national leadership.

Other Presidential Aspirants

According to the poll, Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has 4 per cent support.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino follows with 3 per cent, while former Chief Justice David Maraga receives 2 per cent support.

People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua records 1 per cent support.

Other leaders, including George Natembeya, Eugene Wamalwa, Ndindi Nyoro, Okiya Omtatah, Ekuru Aukot, George Wajackoyah and Jimmy Wanjigi, together account for 1 per cent of those surveyed.

The poll also found that 3 per cent of respondents chose not to reveal the candidate they support.

Ruto Performs Strongly in Several Regions

The survey indicates that President Ruto enjoys his strongest backing in North Eastern, where he records 59 per cent support.

He also posts strong numbers in the Rift Valley with 46 per cent and Nyanza with 40 per cent.

Meanwhile, Kalonzo Musyoka leads in the Eastern region with 40 per cent support, compared to Ruto’s 19 per cent, showing he remains popular in his political stronghold.

Central Kenya Remains Competitive

In the Central region, no presidential hopeful has managed to secure more than 20 per cent support.

Fred Matiang’i leads the region with 19 per cent, while 26 per cent of respondents say they have not yet decided who they will support, the highest undecided vote recorded in the survey.

Party Loyalty Still Influences Support

The Infotrak poll also shows that many voters continue to back leaders from their preferred political parties.

Among UDA supporters, 87 per cent support President Ruto.

Kalonzo Musyoka enjoys 89 per cent support from Wiper Party supporters, while Fred Matiang’i receives 60 per cent backing from Jubilee supporters.

Rigathi Gachagua records 24 per cent support among members of his DCP party, suggesting a more divided support base compared to other major party leaders.
