Gunman Storms Ruaka Salon, Steals Phone Before Escaping on Motorbike

A CCTV camera has captured the frightening moment an armed man raided a salon in Ruaka, Kiambu County, causing panic among customers and workers before escaping on a waiting motorbike.
The incident happened on Friday, July 10, at around 2 pm in broad daylight.
According to the CCTV footage, the suspect, who was wearing green overalls, a black hat and a face mask, walked towards the salon before pulling out a pistol.
He first confronted two women who were seated outside the salon and ordered them to hand over their mobile phones.
The women screamed after seeing the gun, attracting the attention of people nearby. The suspect then fired a shot into the air, forcing members of the public to run for safety.

One of the women was forced into the salon at gunpoint, while the other managed to escape after giving up her phone.
Inside the salon, another CCTV camera showed customers and staff rushing to hide as the armed man entered the premises.
The suspect grabbed one of the women inside and ordered her to surrender her phone and any valuables she had.
As screams continued from inside the salon, more people gathered outside, making the robber realise he could be trapped.
He quickly abandoned the robbery and ran out of the building. While escaping, he fired several shots into the air to scare away members of the public.
The suspect then jumped onto a motorbike that had been waiting nearby and sped off. One of the women attempted to chase him, but he managed to escape.
A victim who spoke after the incident said the robbery appeared well planned because of how the attacker operated. She added that despite the frightening ordeal, the robber only managed to steal one mobile phone belonging to a customer.
Police had not announced any arrest by the time this article was published.
Authorities are expected to use the CCTV footage to help identify and track down the suspect.
