Sammy Kamau Douglas Waweru Ngotho is a Kenyan politician who was elected as the Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency in the July 16, 2026 by-election. He contested on the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) ticket and defeated his main rival, Samuel Muchina Nyagah of UDA.

The by-election was held following the death of former Ol Kalou MP David Njuguna Kiaraho in March 2026.

Political Journey

Sammy Kamau Ngotho started his political career in 2013 when he was elected as the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Karau Ward on a Democratic Party (DP) ticket.

In 2017, he sought re-election as an independent candidate after party nomination disagreements. He narrowly lost the seat by less than 200 votes.

During the 2022 General Election, he contested for the Ol Kalou parliamentary seat under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) but finished second behind the late David Kiaraho.

He later joined the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), where he served as the Nyandarua County Coordinator ahead of the 2026 by-election.

Ol Kalou By-Election Victory

Before the by-election, Ngotho comfortably won the DCP party nomination to become the party’s candidate.

On July 16, 2026, he was elected the new Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency after defeating UDA candidate Samuel Muchina Nyagah by a wide margin.

Following the announcement of the results, Muchina accepted defeat and congratulated Ngotho on his victory.

One of the moments that attracted public attention during his campaign was a community fundraising drive in which residents contributed small amounts of money to help buy him a suit for his swearing-in ceremony.

Sammy Kamau Ngotho is married. His wife supported his campaign and was seen accompanying him during the election period, including when he cast his vote.
