A lecturer from the University of Eldoret has told his students that if they don’t vote for William Ruto and he fails to get TUTAM, then students coming particularly from Western and Mt Kenya regions should find universities from their regions and never come back to the University of Eldoret.
“Usidanganye Ruto ni One Term. Your MP, MCA or Senator can go one term, but mark the day if Ruto becomes one term, you are done with this university. Kama uko Western enda uko, kama uko Mt Kenya enda Dedan Kimathi ama Meru, don’t step in this school. Our President is performing very well. Kibaki hakukunda one term, Uhuru hakuenda one term, Ruto who holds a Doctorate ndio aende term moja?” the lecturer said to first-year students during a class lesson.
Even 2007 started as a joke for some Kenyans, who said they were just joking and bringing some mood to the class. He may have said it while smiling, but he meant business.
This is quite unfortunate, whatever context the remarks were made in.
