The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has asked students to correct their institution details if they applied for a loan or scholarship using the wrong institution.
HELB said students can only change their institution details while their applications are still at the allocation stage.
Students who have transferred to another university, college or TVET institution are therefore advised to check their HELB applications and make the necessary changes before the loan reaches disbursement.
“ Institution details can only be changed at the allocation stage,” HELB said in a notice to students.
The board warned that once an application reaches the disbursement stage, students will no longer be able to change the institution details.
Students were also advised to correct any other mistakes in their applications early to avoid problems with their loan or scholarship.
HELB Warns TVET Students
The latest notice comes shortly after HELB reminded TVET students to confirm that their loan applications had been fully submitted.
The warning mainly targeted students applying for the TVET Diploma Level 6 loan for the first time.
HELB said applicants should confirm that they receive a completion message after submitting their applications.
Successful applicants should receive a message stating:
“Congratulations! Your loan application for TVET Diploma Level 6 first-time application form is complete.”
Students can also request a copy of their completed application form in PDF format by selecting the “Resend Application” option.
Students who have changed institutions or made mistakes in their applications are advised to act early rather than wait until their loans reach disbursement.
