Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, has promoted his daughters Halima, Fatima, and Mariya to prominent leadership positions within the Dangote Group, marking a significant move in succession planning and strategic growth.
Halima Aliko Dangote Leads Family and International Offices
Halima Aliko Dangote has been named Group Executive Director for the Dangote Family Office and International Offices in Dubai and London. She will oversee the development of the family office in Dubai, focusing on governance, operational frameworks, policies, and organizational structure.
In her expanded role, Halima will ensure alignment with Dangote Group’s governance standards across both international offices, emphasizing operational excellence, cost discipline, and compliance. She will also strengthen coordination across functions supporting the group’s global operations, reflecting Dangote Group’s commitment to succession, sustainability, and robust leadership.
A statement from the company encouraged the public to congratulate Halima on her new role, highlighting the importance of preparing the next generation to guide the business toward its long-term goals.

Fatima Aliko Dangote Heads Oil & Gas Commercial Operations
Fatima Aliko Dangote has been appointed Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations – Oil & Gas. She will lead the commercial strategy across the group’s energy businesses, including the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals, fertilizer production, and upstream exploration activities under the West African Exploration and Production Company (WAEP).
Her responsibilities will also continue to cover corporate communications, administration, facilities, and group procurement, ensuring seamless integration of commercial strategies across the group’s operations.
Mariya Aliko Dangote Oversees Cement and Food Businesses
Mariya Aliko Dangote is now Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations – Cement & Foods. She will drive commercial strategies across all markets for the cement and food divisions, focusing on market expansion, customer value, and operational efficiency.
The group emphasized that these appointments are part of a broader commitment to succession, sustainability, and stewardship, preparing the next generation to carry forward Dangote Group’s legacy while supporting its Vision 2030 objectives.

Dangote Group Expands Refinery and Production Capacity
In addition to leadership updates, Dangote Group recently signed a $400 million agreement with XCMG Construction Machinery Co., Ltd., a top Chinese construction equipment manufacturer. This move will accelerate the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals expansion from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels, positioning it as the world’s largest refinery.
The agreement will provide advanced construction equipment for refining, petrochemicals, agriculture, and large-scale infrastructure projects. The expansion will also increase polypropylene production from 900,000 metric tonnes per year to 2.4 million, and urea production in Nigeria will triple from 3 million to 9 million mtpa, adding to 3 million mtpa capacity in Ethiopia.
Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) production will rise to 400,000 mtpa, reinforcing Dangote Group’s leadership in Africa’s detergent and cleaning products supply chain. Base oil production capacity is also set to increase as part of the expansion program.
The group described the partnership with XCMG as a strategic investment to strengthen its construction capabilities and accelerate its goal of becoming a $100 billion enterprise by 2030, reflecting Dangote Group’s continued commitment to growth, innovation, and regional market development.
