Education CS Ogamba Unveils 16 New Appointments
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has reshuffled leadership across major education councils, marking a new chapter in the ministry’s efforts to strengthen service delivery in schools and training institutions.
In a gazette notice published on September 26, Ogamba confirmed 16 appointments and reappointments touching on the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), and other learning agencies.
Key Appointments

KNEC: Zephania Koech has joined the Kenya National Examinations Council for a four-year term, a body central to administering national tests.

KISE: Kennedy Otieno, Stephen Kubai, and Josephat Kemboi were named to the KISE council for three years. Saida Ali Aden also secured a reappointment, extending her stay on the council.
Expanding Leadership in STEM and Biosafety
The ministry is also prioritizing science and technology education. Eight individuals, including Florah Fedha and Joseph Wambua, will now serve on the Board of Governors for the Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA).
Additionally, Lucy Rono was appointed to the National Biosafety Authority, a body that oversees the safe use of biotechnology in Kenya.
Broader Government Moves
Beyond the education docket, Attorney General Dorcas Oduor tapped Bernard Kipkoech Ngetich and Tom Ratemo to the Kenya School of Law board, designating Ratemo as chairperson.
County governments also made leadership shifts:

Kitui Governor Julius Malombe named Julius Waita Mwatu as Chairperson of the County Audit Committee, alongside six new members.

Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani appointed Halima Kauchi to head the Biashara Revolving Fund Committee for a three-year term.
