KCB Bank Executive Rosemary Kimwatu Buried at Night Amid Family Burial Dispute

Former Kericho Deputy Governor Lily Ngok visited the family of the late KCB Bank Head of Data Protection, Rosemary Kimwatu, to offer her condolences.

Ngok said she knew Rosemary personally and described her as a hardworking, professional woman dedicated to her career.

She visited Rosemary’s parents at their home in Chepseon, Kericho County, where she condoled with the family.

Rosemary, who was 40 years old, was buried at night despite a court order that had sought to stop her burial at her parents’ home.

The burial followed a dispute between her family and her husband over where she should be laid to rest.

Rosemary’s husband, Kevin Migwe Kimwatu, wanted her buried at his ancestral home in Matasia, Ngong, Kajiado County.

Her parents, however, wanted their daughter buried at their home in Chepseon, saying the location would allow her four children to easily visit and remember their mother.

Hours before the burial, the Milimani Commercial Magistrate’s Court had issued interim orders stopping the burial without the involvement and consent of Rosemary’s husband.

Despite the court order, Rosemary was buried at her parents’ home on Friday night.

Her mother, Beatrice Koech, said the family believed burying Rosemary on their land was the best decision for her children.

She said the home would give the children a place where they could remain connected to their mother and visit her grave whenever they wanted.

The burial dispute has drawn attention because of the circumstances surrounding Rosemary’s death and the legal disagreement between her family and husband.
