A wedding in Nigeria was reportedly called off in February 2026 after a groom discovered old social media photos of his fiancée smoking marijuana, a move that has triggered widespread debate online.
According to reports, the groom from Imo State came across Facebook memories and old posts that allegedly showed his bride-to-be smoking “Canadian Loud,” a strong strain of cannabis. The discovery reportedly shocked him and led to an immediate decision to cancel the planned marriage.
Sources indicate that the woman pleaded with her fiancé to reconsider. She reportedly explained that the images reflected a phase of her life she has since left behind.
The bride insisted she had changed her lifestyle and urged him not to judge her based on old social media content. Despite her explanation, the groom is said to have remained unmoved.
Reports claim the man maintained that his decision was based on personal values and future family expectations.
He allegedly stated that he does not believe a woman who smokes or drinks can be a responsible mother to his children. His position reportedly ended any hopes of reconciliation between the couple.
Mediation Efforts Failed
Friends and family members are said to have stepped in to try and resolve the dispute. However, their mediation efforts reportedly failed, and the wedding was cancelled while still in the planning stages.
