Jirongo Death Raises Fresh Questions as Investigators Say He Was Not Alone in Car

Fresh questions have emerged over the death of former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo, after private investigators hired by his family claimed he may not have been alone in the car at the time of the fatal road accident.

The claims have deepened the mystery surrounding the crash, even as the government insists that police investigations are ongoing and will establish the truth.

Family Hires Private Investigators

According to Jirongo’s close associates, the family decided to bring in private investigators to examine the circumstances that led to his death independently. The move came amid growing concerns over unanswered questions surrounding the accident.

The investigators reportedly reviewed CCTV footage from nearby locations and made a surprising discovery.

Former Vihiga Senator George Khaniri claimed that the footage shows two people seated in the front of the vehicle, although their faces are not clearly visible.

“If CCTV shows two people in the car, why was the public told that he was alone after the accident?” Khaniri questioned.

Police Ask for Patience

Speaking during a second memorial service held on Monday at Jirongo’s home in Maili Saba, Kitale, Deputy Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli assured Kenyans that police are leaving nothing to chance.

He said a forensic investigation is already underway and urged the public to avoid speculation as detectives work to establish the full truth.

“As the government, we are committed to a thorough, transparent and speedy investigation. All facts will be established,” Masengeli stated.

Leaders Demand Faster Action

Several leaders and close friends of the late MP called on police to speed up investigations, saying the family deserves clear answers.

Former MP Fred Gumo questioned how basic evidence could raise more questions than official findings.

“People are wondering how simple tools seem to reveal what police investigations have not yet explained,” he said.

Kiminini MP Kakai Bisau described Jirongo as a strong voice for unity, especially within the Mulembe community, saying the country had lost an influential leader.
