Ministry of Defence Advertises Permanent Jobs for KCSE D+ Holders

The Ministry of Defence has announced new permanent and pensionable job opportunities for Kenyans who scored D+ and D (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

In a public notice dated December 30, 2025, the ministry invited qualified applicants to apply for 45 vacant positions across different departments.

Vacancies Available at the Ministry of Defence

According to the notice, the ministry is recruiting:

  • 30 Garden Assistant III positions

  • 15 Support Staff / Sanitary Cleaner positions

All applicants are required to fill out one PSC2 application form (Revised 2016) and attach copies of their academic and professional certificates.

Completed applications must be sent to the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Defence, through:

  • Post Office Box 40668–00100, Nairobi, or

  • Hand delivery at Ulinzi House (Gate off Lenana Road)

The deadline for applications is January 20, 2026.

Details of Garden Assistant III Jobs

The Ministry of Defence is hiring 30 Garden Assistant III officers under CSG 15.

These positions are permanent and pensionable.

Salary and Allowances

Successful applicants will earn:

  • Basic salary of KSh 19,340 – 24,470

  • House allowance (based on duty station)

  • Commuter allowance of KSh 3,000

  • Annual leave allowance of KSh 4,000

Job Responsibilities

Garden Assistant III officers will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining lawns, gardens, and flowerbeds

  • Carrying out general gardening duties

  • Working in Ministry of Defence units, State House, and government lodges

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • KCSE mean grade of D+ (Plus) or its equivalent

Support Staff  Vacancies

The ministry is also recruiting 15 Support Staff / Sanitary Cleaner officers under CSG 16.

These roles are entry-level, permanent, and pensionable.

Salary and Benefits

Successful candidates will receive:

  • Basic salary of KSh 18,250 – 22,720

  • House allowance depending on location

  • Commuter allowance of KSh 3,000

  • Leave allowance of KSh 4,000 per year

Duties and Responsibilities

Officers will be expected to:

  • Carry out sanitary cleaning duties

  • Perform messenger duties

  • Handle other tasks as assigned by supervisors

Academic Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • KCSE mean grade of D (Plain) or equivalent

  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognised institution
