Headteachers to Pay Ksh45,000 to attend Annual Event at Raila Odinga Stadium
Headteachers from across the Nyanza region will be required to pay Ksh45,000 to attend the 2026 Kenya Comprehensive Schools Headteachers Association (KECSHA) Annual General Meeting and Conference.
According to a notice released on January 3, 2026, t, he meeting will bring together headteachers from public and private comprehensive schoolsofficials from the Ministry of Education (MoE), the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), development partners, and other education stakeholders.
The five-day event will be held from April 12 to April 16, 2026, at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County.
The Nyanza regional conference will run under the theme: “CBE Transition: Celebrating, Strengthening Leadership, and Shaping the Future of Learning.”
KECSHA said the forum will focus on leadership, policy direction, and the ongoing rollout of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system.

Breakdown of the Conference Fee
Headteachers planning to attend will pay a total of Ksh45,000, out of which Ksh10,000 must be submitted to their respective sub-county offices as the official conference fee.
KECSHA has directed all delegates to complete their registration by January 30, 2026.
KECSHA Nyanza Regional Chairman Elly Ondiek said the conference will give school heads a platform to share ideas and contribute to national discussions on education reforms.
He noted that the meeting comes at a critical time as Kenya continues to implement Competency-Based Education, which requires strong leadership at the school level.
Comparison With Previous KEPSHA Fees
In 2024, the Kenya Primary School Headteachers Association (KEPSHA) had raised its AGM conference fee to Ksh60,000, citing rising costs due to inflation.
KEPSHA clarified at the time that other registration charges at different levels remained unchanged and asked members to submit payments through their sub-county chairpersons.
The Kenya Comprehensive Schools Headteachers Association (KECSHA) was formed after transitioning from KEPSHA, following major changes in Kenya’s education system.
The move was meant to align leadership with the introduction of junior secondary schools within primary institutions.
KECSHA National Chairman Fuad Ali Abdalla previously said the transition supports recommendations made by the 2023 Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms, later adopted in Sessional Paper No. 1 of 2025.
He added that placing junior secondary schools under primary school management has so far shown positive results, with learners adjusting well to the new system.
