Nairobi County Announces 78 Job Openings with Salaries, Housing, and Commuter Allowances

Nairobi City County has announced 78 job opportunities in different departments such as agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and forestry. These jobs are open to qualified Kenyans and offer good salaries, together with house and commuter allowances.

The county government has said that all applications must be submitted online before the deadline. Women and persons living with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Available Jobs and Salaries

The vacancies include both junior and senior positions. Some of the key job openings are explained below:

The county is looking for Assistant Directors in Veterinary Services and Livestock Production, with two positions available in each area. These roles offer a salary ranging from about KSh 94,170 to KSh 129,300, plus a house allowance of KSh 45,000 and a commuter allowance of KSh 12,000.

There is also one position for an Assistant Leather Development Officer, where the salary ranges between KSh 27,900 and KSh 36,680, with additional allowances.

For those interested in animal health, there are five vacancies for Animal Health Assistants (Disease Control) and ten positions for Meat Inspectors. These roles offer salaries starting from KSh 24,700 up to KSh 32,600, with house and commuter allowances included.

The county is also hiring nine Livestock Production Officers and seven Fisheries Officers, each earning between KSh 41,320 and KSh 55,010, plus allowances.

In the veterinary field, there are three vacancies for Veterinary Surgeons, offering salaries between KSh 46,240 and KSh 63,500, along with higher allowances.

For forestry and agriculture roles, the county is recruiting Agricultural Officers, Forest Officers, and Principal Forest Officers, with salaries ranging from about KSh 27,900 up to KSh 94,170, depending on the position.

Senior positions are also available, including Director Veterinary Services and Director of Food Systems, each offering salaries between KSh 129,300 and KSh 180,110, plus high allowances.

There are also several Assistant Director roles in agriculture, fisheries, forestry, and animal health, as well as a Deputy Director in Forestry and Land Use, all offering competitive pay and benefits.

Other Job Opportunities in Kenya

In a separate update, the Kenya Ports Authority has announced 194 internship and apprenticeship opportunities. These positions are meant for young graduates who completed their studies between January 2023 and December 2025.

The programme will run for one year starting in April 2026, and applicants must be 27 years or younger. It offers a good chance for graduates to gain experience in the maritime and logistics sector.
