Cases of child abduction, child trafficking, and child abandonment have continued to increase in Kenya over the past few years, raising concern among many parents and security agencies.
A recent incident happened in Githurai 45 after a teenage girl was allegedly caught trying to steal a baby. According to residents, the young girl was found carrying the baby away from the area under suspicious circumstances.
When questioned by members of the public, the teenager reportedly claimed that she had been sent by another person and was promised a mobile phone in return. She allegedly said the phone was meant to help her watch TikTok videos.
Concerned residents who noticed the girl carrying the baby forcefully stopped her and demanded to know where she was taking the child. The situation quickly attracted a huge crowd before police officers arrived at the scene and rescued the teenager from angry residents.
The baby, identified as Lisney, was later safely reunited with the parents, who had already raised an alarm after discovering the child was missing. Family members expressed relief and happiness after the baby was found safe.
Police have now warned Nairobi residents to remain careful and vigilant as cases involving missing children continue to rise in different parts of the city. Authorities urged parents to closely monitor their children and immediately report any suspicious activity to security officers.
