How to Select an NYOTA On-the-Job Experience (OJE) Skill via USSD

NYOTA beneficiaries in selected counties who have completed the required Socio-Emotional Skills Development (SESD) training can now select their preferred skill for the On-the-Job Experience (OJE) programme.
The deadline for making the skill selection is October 9, 2026.
The exercise applies to beneficiaries in Lot 3, Lot 4 and Lot 8 counties.
Counties Covered
The affected counties are:
- Lot 3: Kitui, Kwale, Machakos, Makueni and Taita Taveta
- Lot 4: Embu, Kirinyaga, Meru, Murang’a, Nyandarua, Nyeri and Tharaka Nithi
- Lot 8: Kajiado, Kiambu and Nairobi
To qualify for the selection, beneficiaries must have completed at least three days of Socio-Emotional Skills Development (SESD) training.
How to Select Your OJE Skill
Beneficiaries can make their selection using their mobile phones by following these steps:
- Dial *254# on your phone.
- Select option 3 – NYOTA Project.
- Select option 1 – Select a Track.
- Choose option 3 – On-the-Job Experience (OJE).
- Select option 2 – Skill Selection.
- Select option 1 to view the available trades or industries.
- Choose your preferred skill and save your selection.
Beneficiaries are encouraged to complete the process before the October 9, 2026 deadline to avoid missing the opportunity.
