Angry Rider Blasts Bolt Management Over Claim Drivers Earn Up to KSh400,000 Monthly

A section of ride-hailing operators has strongly criticized Bolt following the release of its latest earnings report, saying the figures shared do not reflect the real situation on the ground.

In the report, Bolt claimed that its highest-earning driver in Kenya can make up to KSh400,000 per month. The company also stated that about 20 per cent of its top drivers earn an average of KSh184,000 monthly.

Additionally, the report showed that the average monthly income for Bolt drivers in Kenya stands at around KSh63,000, while motorcycle (boda boda) riders reportedly earn about KSh56,000 per month.

However, these figures have been rejected by some drivers, who say the numbers are exaggerated and misleading.

Speaking during a recent meeting with Bolt’s management, the operators accused the company of giving the public a false impression about how much drivers actually earn.

The angry riders are now calling on Bolt to be more open and honest when sharing such reports. They insist that the company should release accurate data that reflects the real struggles drivers face, instead of what they described as “too good to be true” figures.

The disagreement highlights growing tension between ride-hailing drivers and platform companies, with many pushing for better transparency and fair representation of their earnings.
