Govt Launches Probe Into Nakuru Prophetic Healings
The government has launched investigations into controversial claims of miraculous healing made during a recent religious crusade held in Nakuru.
The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has raised alarm over reports that some individuals, including medical professionals, claimed serious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, cancer, blindness, deafness, muteness, and physical disabilities were healed through faith alone.
In a statement released on Saturday, the council warned that such claims are not scientifically proven and could put lives at risk, especially when patients abandon prescribed medical treatment.
KMPDC, which regulates doctors and dentists in Kenya, said medical practitioners should not promote healing claims that lack proper medical evidence.
The council stressed that all diagnoses and treatments must be supported by verified medical tests and scientific research, warning that misleading information can confuse and endanger vulnerable patients.
According to KMPDC, patients who stop taking prescribed medication in favour of unverified healing methods risk serious health complications, drug resistance, or even death.

Patients Warned Against Stopping Treatment
The council particularly cautioned Kenyans living with HIV/AIDS, diabetes, hypertension, epilepsy and other chronic illnesses not to discontinue their medication based on faith-healing promises.
KMPDC noted that while spiritual support may offer comfort, it should never replace proper medical care, especially for life-threatening conditions.
Formal Investigations Underway
Following the Nakuru crusade, KMPDC confirmed that it has opened a formal investigation into the matter. The council is working closely with the Ministry of Health and other regulatory agencies to establish the truth behind the claims.
Authorities warned that disciplinary or legal action will be taken against any medical practitioner found to have violated professional ethics or endangered public health.
Public Urged to Stay Alert
KMPDC reassured Kenyans that the country’s healthcare system continues to offer proven treatment for HIV, cancer, and other chronic diseases, supported by ongoing medical research.
Members of the public have been urged to report suspicious healing claims to relevant authorities for verification to prevent the spread of misinformation.
