The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has explained why some students are still waiting to receive their loan payments.
The clarification came after a student contacted HELB to ask about the progress of his loan after noticing that his batch number had changed.
The student said he had submitted a confirmation letter from his dean but later noticed that his batch had moved from 2704 to 7114. He was concerned that the change could affect when he would receive his money.
In response, HELB said the student’s loan payment was already being processed and that he was still in the queue awaiting batch confirmation.
This means the application had not been rejected or cancelled and the student was still being considered for payment.
Why HELB loan payments can be delayed
Students may have to wait for their loans while HELB verifies their information and processes different batches for payment.
A change in the batch number does not necessarily mean that a student has lost their place or will not receive the loan.
