How Much Kenyan Police Officers Earn in 2026 by Rank

The Kenya National Police Service (NPS) rolled out a new salary structure for 2026, giving police officers better pay across all ranks.

The review was done in line with guidance from the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) and aims to improve officers’ welfare, motivation, and service delivery.

Under the new structure, police pay depends on rank, job group, experience, and responsibilities. Officers also earn several allowances that boost their total monthly income.

Kenyan police officers earn a basic salary, which increases as one rises in rank. Promotions, years of service, and academic qualifications also play a key role in salary growth.

Apart from basic pay, officers receive allowances depending on their work environment, location, and operational duties.
