JSC Announces 108 Job Vacancies for Law Clerks and Legal Researchers in Kenya

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced 108 job vacancies, inviting qualified Kenyans to apply for different legal positions.

In a notice released on Thursday, March 26, the commission said it is looking to hire professionals for three roles: Law Clerk, Senior Legal Researcher, and Legal Researcher.

Breakdown of Available Positions

According to JSC:

  • 1 position for Law Clerk
  • 22 positions for Senior Legal Researchers
  • 85 positions for Legal Researchers

These roles are aimed at improving the delivery of justice across the country.

Where Successful Applicants Will Work

Successful candidates will be posted in different courts within the Judiciary.

  • Law Clerks will work at the Supreme Court of Kenya
  • Legal Researchers will be deployed in:
    • Court of Appeal of Kenya
    • High Court of Kenya
    • Employment and Labour Relations Court
    • Environment and Land Court

Their main role will be to assist judges with legal research and analysis, helping in writing well-informed court decisions.

Salary and Benefits

The commission said successful candidates will receive competitive salaries and allowances, as guided by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

Recent Judiciary Changes

This announcement comes just two months after the JSC appointed 15 new judges to the Court of Appeal, increasing the total number to 42 from 27.

The move is expected to help reduce case backlog and improve service delivery in the Judiciary. Among those appointed was lawyer Katwa Kigen, who has previously represented President William Ruto.
