400 Government Internship Jobs Open for ICT and Engineering Graduates

The government has opened applications for 400 internship opportunities under the 2026/27 Presidential Digital Talent Programme (PDTP) Cohort XI.
The programme is being coordinated by the ICT Authority and targets young Kenyan graduates looking to gain practical experience in the technology sector.
Who can apply?
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Kenyan citizen aged 21 to 29 years.
- Have graduated from a recognised institution from January 2024 onwards.
- Hold at least a Second-Class Honours Upper Division degree in ICT, engineering or a related field.
- Be currently unemployed.
- Have not previously participated in a Government of Kenya internship programme.
Students expected to graduate by December 2026 can also apply, provided they have a recommendation letter from their university confirming the degree class they are expected to attain.
Eligible courses include computer science, software engineering, information systems, computer engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, telecommunications and other related disciplines.
How the 400 positions are distributed
The internship programme has opportunities in five main areas:
- Network and Digital Infrastructure – 150 positions
- Software Development and Artificial Intelligence – 100 positions
- Information Security – 50 positions
- Data Analytics – 50 positions
- Multimedia, Graphic Design and Digital Marketing – 50 positions
Successful interns will work full-time from 8am to 5pm and may be placed in government ministries, departments, agencies, state corporations or county governments across Kenya’s 47 counties.
The programme is intended to give young ICT professionals practical workplace experience, mentorship and professional networks that can help them improve their chances of securing employment.
Application deadline
Interested graduates have until Monday, September 7, 2026, at midnight to submit their applications.
Applications are made online through the official Presidential Digital Talent Programme portal. Applicants are advised to complete the form correctly and attach all required documents because incomplete applications may be rejected.
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted about the next stage of the recruitment process.
