KUCCPS Opens KMTC Applications for March 2026 Intake, Deadline Jan 27

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has invited qualified KCSE students to apply for courses at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) through its online portal.

KUCCPS opened the application process on Wednesday, and the exercise will run until January 27, 2026.

The January application window is open to students who sat their KCSE exams in 2024 or earlier. Candidates who sat for KCSE in 2025 will apply later for the September 2026 intake, as they are yet to receive their examination results.

In a statement, KUCCPS revealed that KMTC has lowered the minimum Biology requirement for the Certificate in Health Insurance Management course from D+ to D (plain).

According to KUCCPS, the move is aimed at supporting the government’s Taifa Care programme and strengthening the rollout of the Social Health Insurance system.

The placement body noted that students who take the course will have an advantage in the job market due to the growing demand for automation of health services and proper management of health insurance systems.

“The Certificate in Health Insurance Management programme is designed to prepare health workers to support the implementation of Social Health Insurance under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” KUCCPS said.

The course runs for two years and is currently offered at KMTC campuses in Bondo, Chwele, Mombasa, Nairobi, Nakuru, Nyamache, Nyeri, Rachuonyo, Rera, and Webuye.

KUCCPS assured applicants that the change in entry requirements will not affect training quality, adding that professional bodies continue to closely monitor and regulate training standards at KMTC.

Students who are successfully placed will report to KMTC during the March 2026 intake, where 21,774 vacancies are available across 36 diploma and certificate programmes offered in 98 campuses nationwide.

The ongoing application falls under the 2026 phased university and college placement process.

KUCCPS encouraged KCSE certificate holders to log into the official KUCCPS portal, select their preferred KMTC courses, and ensure they meet the minimum entry requirements before submitting their applications.
