Mystery as Man Falls to Death From KICC Rooftop

A young man believed to be in his 20s has died after falling from the rooftop area of the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.
The incident happened at around 11 am and caused panic in the busy building. Reports indicate that the man fell from the upper section of the building and landed near the main entrance on the ground floor.
People who were at the scene gathered quickly to see what had happened, forcing a brief disruption of activities around the building before police arrived and secured the area.
Some witnesses claimed the man may have jumped from the top of the building. However, police have not yet confirmed whether it was a suicide or an accident.
Central Police Commander Stephene Nyakombo confirmed the incident, saying investigations are still ongoing.
“We are still trying to understand what happened, including where exactly he fell from and the reason behind it,” he said.
After the incident, police officers blocked off the area as forensic experts collected evidence to help with investigations.
The body was later taken to the city mortuary, where it will remain until family members identify it and a post-mortem is conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
Authorities are also expected to review CCTV footage from the building, as KICC has several security cameras. Investigators will also question witnesses to understand how the man accessed the upper floors.
This is not the first time such an incident has happened at KICC. In December 2024, another man died after falling from the 10th floor. Just a month earlier, in November, a young woman identified as Lucy also died after jumping from the 14th floor. Reports at the time indicated that she had shared suicidal thoughts on social media before the incident.
KICC remains one of Nairobi’s most famous landmarks. The building has over 30 floors, including office spaces and observation areas, and continues to play an important role in hosting major events in the city.
