Thousands of Youth Set to Benefit as NYOTA Fund Second Phase Begins

In a statement issued on Monday, June 15, Kindiki said the programme remains an important part of the government’s efforts to help young people start and grow businesses.
According to the Deputy President, beneficiaries who receive the second round of funding will also be encouraged to seek additional support from other government programmes, including the Hustler Fund, Uwezo Fund and the Youth Enterprise Development Fund.
The latest announcement comes after concerns over delays caused by budget challenges, which had affected the release of the second tranche.
Earlier this month, Principal Secretary Susan Mang’eni revealed that more than 122,000 young people from all parts of the country are already benefiting from the NYOTA programme through business training, mentorship and enterprise support.
She said most of the beneficiaries have already received the first business grant of KSh25,000, with KSh3,000 set aside as savings under the NSSF Haba Haba Scheme.
Government figures show that 98 per cent of those who received the first funding have already started businesses, indicating positive results from the youth empowerment initiative.
With the second phase set to begin later this month, thousands of young entrepreneurs are expected to receive additional support to expand their businesses and improve their financial stability.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has announced that the government will start releasing the second phase of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Fund on June 27, 2026.
