The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has started the process of identifying teachers who will help administer the 2026 national examinations and assessments.
Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs) are working with heads of schools to collect details of teachers who may be selected as Centre Managers, Supervisors and Invigilators.
The selected teachers will have their details entered into the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) CP2 online deployment system.
Sub-County Directors of Education have been asked to nominate suitable teachers and ensure their details are submitted through the system by the end of September 2026.
Who can be selected?
KNEC says only qualified teachers who are employed or registered by TSC will be considered for examination duties.
The CP2 system will also help prevent teachers from being deployed to examination centres where they have worked during the previous three years.
Teachers will also be required to declare any conflict of interest. For example, a teacher who has a relative sitting an examination at a particular centre will have to disclose this information.
Such teachers will be assigned to different examination centres.
2026 national examination dates
The KCSE examinations are scheduled to run from October 19 to November 20, 2026.
Other assessments will take place during the same period:
KPSEA: October 26–28
KJSEA and KILEA: October 26–30
KPLEA: October 26–29
Schools told to avoid disruptions during exams
The Ministry of Education has also directed schools to limit activities that could interfere with candidates during the examination period.
Principal Secretary for Basic Education John Ololtuaa directed schools to stop prayer sessions involving parents, outsiders and other visitors during the examination period.
Schools have also been directed to hold activities such as prize-giving ceremonies, thanksgiving events and special prayer days for candidates during the second term.
Annual General Meetings (AGMs) should also be held during the first or second term of the school calendar.
The measures are aimed at giving candidates a calm environment as they prepare for and sit their national examinations.
