UDA Politician Dies in Hospital while Undergoing Treatment
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Endo Ward in Baringo County, Jeremiah Kibiwott Kiptum, has passed away in a Nairobi hospital following a prolonged illness.
Widely known as Jeremiah Biwott or Jeremiah Toriebe, Kibiwott had represented Endo Ward in Marakwet East Sub-County since 2022.
The sad news of his death was confirmed by Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly Speaker Lawi Kibire, who described it as a major loss to both the Assembly and the residents of Endo Ward. Kibire highlighted Kibiwott’s dedication to his constituents, saying he always involved them in decision-making processes.
“It is with profound sorrow that I inform the public of the passing of Jeremiah Kibiwott Kiptum, the elected MCA for Endo Ward. He served with commitment, diligence, and a strong sense of responsibility,” the speaker said.
During his tenure, Kibiwott chaired the Committee on Agriculture and Irrigation, playing a key role in advancing the county’s agricultural and irrigation initiatives. He also actively participated in other committees, including Administration, Justice, Public Service and ICT, as well as Tourism, Trade, Cooperatives, Industrialisation, and Wildlife.
Governor Wisley Rotich joined in mourning Kibiwott’s death, extending condolences to his family, colleagues, and the people of Endo Ward. The governor acknowledged Kibiwott’s service since 2022 and encouraged community members to support the bereaved family.
“With the family’s permission here at Nairobi Hospital, I wish to inform the EMC community and residents of Endo Ward that Jeremiah Biwott has passed on. My heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends, leaders, teachers, fellow MCAs, and the entire community,” Rotich stated.
The County Assembly Speaker further announced that members would be nominated to assist the family with funeral arrangements. Specific details regarding the burial will be shared in due course.
