22-Storey Westlands Building Collapses, Rescue Ongoing as One Dies

A building under construction in Westlands, Nairobi, has collapsed, leaving two workers trapped under the rubble.

The incident happened on Thursday, March 19, along School Lane near the Bank of Africa. The building, which was expected to have 22 floors, came down while construction was still ongoing.

According to the Kenya Red Cross, four workers were at the site when the accident occurred. Two of them managed to escape safely without injuries, while the other two were not as lucky and remain stuck beneath the debris.

Emergency teams quickly arrived at the scene and started rescue operations. The teams are still searching for the trapped workers, but their condition has not yet been confirmed.

The Kenya Red Cross said rescue efforts are continuing, with officials working hard to locate and save the missing workers.

Authorities have not yet shared the cause of the collapse, and investigations are expected to follow.
