Kenyans have been thrown into mourning following the death of Ol Kalou Member of Parliament, David Njuguna Kiaraho.
The legislator passed away on Sunday, March 29, while undergoing specialised treatment in India. However, details about the exact illness that led to his death have not yet been revealed.
Reports indicate that the MP had been unwell for a long time and had been seeking medical care both in Kenya and abroad.
Even as he battled health challenges, development activities in Ol Kalou constituency continued. Recently, a representative received 40 water tanks from the Kenya Wildlife Service to support schools in harvesting rainwater.
This showed that efforts to improve the lives of residents were still ongoing despite the MP’s absence.

A Leader with Years of Service
David Kiaraho was first elected as Ol Kalou MP in 2013. He later retained his seat in both the 2017 and 2022 General Elections, showing strong support from voters.
In Parliament, he served in key committees, including:
- Transport, Public Works, and Housing
- Procedure and House Rules
His last public appearance was reported in November, when he was inspecting development projects within his constituency.
Controversies During His Tenure
During his time in office, Kiaraho faced several challenges. He was once questioned over the alleged misuse of about KSh 120 million from the NG-CDF between 2013 and 2018.
In 2020, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) also investigated him over claims of mismanagement of constituency funds.
Second MP to Die in 2026
Kiaraho becomes the second sitting Member of Parliament to die this year. His death comes weeks after Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno died in a tragic helicopter crash in Nandi County.
