Malaysia Announces Fully Funded Scholarships for Kenyans in 2026

The Malaysian government has opened applications for fully funded postgraduate scholarships for Kenyan students seeking to pursue Master’s degree studies in the 2026/2027 academic year.
According to a statement shared by the Ministry of Education through the State Department for Higher Education, the scholarships are being offered under the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP). Successful applicants will begin their studies in September or October 2026.
The scholarship programme will cater for tuition fees and provide successful candidates with additional allowances. Beneficiaries will also receive a return air ticket after completing their studies.
Students can apply for Master’s degree programmes in seven priority areas. These include Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Economics and Trade, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Food Security and Agricultural Technology, Islamic Finance, Law and Public Administration, and Sustainable and Environmental Sciences.
To qualify, applicants must be aged 45 years or below and hold at least a Second Class Upper Division degree from a recognised university.
Applications are being submitted online through the MTCP scholarship portal. The application window opened on May 4, 2026, and will close on Friday, June 12, 2026.
The scholarship is aimed at students from developing countries and supports Master’s degree programmes lasting between 24 and 36 months. It covers coursework, mixed-mode learning, and research-based studies.
Candidates who are shortlisted will be invited for interviews starting July 6, while the final list of successful applicants is expected to be announced on August 3, 2026.
The Ministry of Education has encouraged eligible Kenyans to submit their applications before the deadline and take advantage of the opportunity to further their studies in Malaysia.
