DCI Seizes 11 Bales of Suspected Al-Shabaab Uniforms in Eastleigh, Nairobi

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has successfully stopped a suspected terror supply operation after recovering several bales of military-style uniforms in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

The operation took place on Wednesday morning at the KBS Garage area, where detectives found 11 bales. Each bale contained 60 camouflage uniforms and 120 t-shirts believed to be linked to Al-Shabaab activities.

According to the DCI, the operation was carried out by officers from DCI Starehe working together with the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU). The items are suspected to be part of a larger supply network meant to support militants operating within the East African region.

Investigations revealed that an additional bale with 65 uniforms and 120 t-shirts had also been recovered earlier. Authorities said the shipment was traced back to China and delivered through a local parcel service in Eastleigh.

The investigation began after security agencies received intelligence from Jubaland. This followed an earlier incident on April 6, 2026, where security forces in Dhobley intercepted 25 bales of similar uniforms. This discovery raised concerns about a wider cross-border supply chain.

After receiving the information, Kenyan detectives launched further investigations, which led them to Eastleigh. They identified a parcel delivery service along 12th Street in the KBS area as part of the network.

However, when officers arrived, they found that the goods had been moved to a nearby parcel station due to limited storage space at the original location.

The manager of the first parcel service was later arrested after it was established that he had received the goods from a person identified as Sharif.

Further investigations led ATPU officers to a cargo company located at Soma Towers in Eastleigh. The company is suspected to have handled another shipment of 37 bales of similar uniforms.

Authorities believe the cargo was shipped from China and entered Kenya through the Port of Mombasa, disguised as normal goods.

An employee from the cargo company is now being investigated for allegedly helping in clearing and coordinating the shipment.

The DCI confirmed that all recovered items have been secured as evidence, and several suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.

Police say the operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the entire network behind the illegal supply chain.
