Donald Trump’s Administration Adds 12 New Countries to US Visa Bond List
2 min read
The United States government has updated its list of countries whose nationals are required to post visa bonds before traveling on a B1/B2 visa. The update comes from the US Department of State under Donald Trump’s administration, adding 12 new countries, most of them from Africa.
How the Visa Bond Works
Travelers from these countries must deposit a bond of KSh 650,000, KSh 1.2 million, or KSh 1.9 million, depending on the consular officer’s decision during the visa interview.
Applicants must also submit Department of Homeland Security Form I-352 and agree to the bond terms via the Department of Treasury’s online payment platform Pay.gov.
Posting a bond does not guarantee visa approval. The bond is refundable if the visa is rejected, if the individual does not enter the US, or if all visa conditions are followed. Travelers must enter and exit the US through designated ports of entry.
