Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ngeno shared what would unknowingly become his final message on social media just hours before he lost his life in a devastating helicopter crash on Saturday evening, February 28.
The outspoken MP had posted an update announcing his arrival at Kapkugo, Tulwop Kony in Endebes, where he had joined friends, supporters, and fellow leaders for a special celebration. The event marked the 35th anniversary in the music industry of popular artist Kim Kim.
In his post, Ngeno appeared upbeat and excited to be part of the milestone celebration.
“I have just arrived at Kapkugo, Tulwop Kony, Endebes, to join friends, fans, and fellow leaders in celebrating Artist Kim Kim’s remarkable 35th anniversary in the music industry,” he wrote.
At the time, nothing suggested that this cheerful update would be his last public message.

A Day Filled With Duty and Compassion
Earlier that morning, the MP had spent time in Mara Rianta, where he met families mourning the tragic loss of two young men whose vehicle had been swept away by the raging waters of the Mara River.
Ngeno had expressed deep sympathy for the affected families and urged Kenyans to remain cautious during the ongoing rainy season.
“My heart goes out to the families affected as they endure this painful and uncertain moment. I also urge the public to remain vigilant during this rainy season, particularly around flooded rivers and roads,” he said.

The helicopter carrying the MP crashed at Chepkiep in Nandi North Forest, Mosop Constituency, Nandi County. Reports indicate that six other people who were on board also lost their lives in the accident.
