KeNHA Announces Free Technical Training Scholarships for Kenyan Youth

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has invited young people from across Kenya to apply for its 2026 scholarship and technical skills training programme.
The programme is being funded through the World Bank-supported Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project. It targets unemployed youth, persons living with disabilities and people affected by the project.
Successful applicants will receive technical training at selected institutions, including Nkabune Technical Training Institute, North Eastern National Polytechnic, Bishop Locati Training Institute, Sensei Institute of Technology and Meru National Polytechnic.
According to KeNHA, the programme aims to equip young people with practical skills that can help them secure employment or start their own businesses.
Some of the courses being offered include:
- Carpentry and Joinery
- Plumbing
- Food and Beverage Production
- Fashion and Design
- Computer and Mobile Phone Repair
- Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy
- Motor Vehicle and Motorcycle Mechanics
- Electrical Installation and Electronics
- Masonry
- Welding and Fabrication
- Plant Construction Mechanics
- Flooring and Tile Laying
- Pastry and Bakery
- Garment Making and Tailoring
- Security Management
- ICT Technician Courses
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be aged between 18 and 35 years.
- Be residents of Isiolo, Meru, Wajir or Garissa counties.
- Have a valid Kenyan National ID card.
For courses examined by TVET and CDACC institutions, applicants should have a KCSE certificate of any grade. However, those applying for NITA courses do not need formal educational qualifications.
KeNHA said people living with disabilities, orphans, young single parents, and applicants from single-parent families will be given priority during the selection process.
How to Apply
Application forms can be collected free of charge from:
- Area Chiefs’ offices.
- KENHA regional offices in Isiolo and Garissa.
- County Commissioners’ offices in Isiolo, Meru, Wajir, and Garissa.
Applicants can also download the forms from the KeNHA website.
The completed forms must be signed and stamped by an Area Chief or Assistant County Commissioner to confirm the applicant’s place of residence.
Applications should be submitted to KeNHA regional offices, County Commissioners’ offices, Area Chiefs’ offices or designated project offices in Ndumuru, Garbatulla and Wajir Town.
The deadline for submitting applications is Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 5.00 pm East African Time.
