KNEC Announces Recruitment for Teachers Ahead of 2026 KCSE Exams

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced the recruitment of teachers and college tutors to help assess oral and practical papers for the 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

In a notice released on Tuesday, June 30, KNEC asked qualified teachers to submit their applications before the deadline on July 15, 2026.

The council said successful applicants will receive training during the assessment period to help them understand the marking guidelines and procedures.

The recruitment is for several subjects, including Power Mechanics, Electricity, and Aviation Technology practical papers, as well as French, German, Arabic and Music oral examinations.

According to KNEC, applicants must be practising secondary school teachers or college tutors in the relevant subjects and should have at least three years of teaching experience.

Candidates are also required to hold a diploma in education or another relevant qualification. Those applying for Aviation Technology must have a diploma in Aeronautical Engineering.

In addition, applicants must be registered or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) or another recognised professional body. They should also be recommended by their school principal or employer.

KNEC said applicants must be aged 50 years and below and should not be facing any disciplinary case or interdiction.

Teachers interested in the positions can apply through the KNEC examiners’ portal using their existing Contracted Professionals (CP2) account or create a new account if they do not have one.

The council noted that teachers who are already in the KNEC database of assessors do not need to submit a fresh application.

The recruitment comes at a time when many teachers are still waiting for payments related to invigilation and marking of the 2025 national examinations.

The delayed payments have caused concern among teachers, with the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) previously threatening to boycott the 2026 examination exercise until the pending dues are paid.
