Meet Kithure Kindiki’s Four Elder Brothers Who Are All Professors

Apart from being a powerful leader in Kenya after President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is also widely respected for his strong academic background.
The Deputy President holds a PhD and has previously served as a professor. Interestingly, he comes from a family where education is highly valued, with several of his siblings excelling in academia.
Kindiki is part of a large family of scholars. His four elder brothers are all professors in different academic fields, while his sisters have also pursued careers connected to education.
The Four Kindiki Brothers
The Deputy President’s elder brothers are Jonah Nyaga, Isaiah Iguna, Stephen Kithinji, and Moses Mpuria. Each of them has built a strong academic reputation in Kenya and beyond.
Professor Jonah Nyaga
Professor Jonah Nyaga Kindiki is the eldest among the brothers. He earned his PhD from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom in 2004.
Nyaga specializes in International Education and Policy. He serves as a professor and also holds the position of Dean of the Faculty of Education at Moi University.
Throughout his career, he has supervised a large number of postgraduate students, guiding over 170 master’s students and about 40 PhD candidates to completion.

Professor Moses Mpuria
Another accomplished member of the family is Professor Moses Mpuria Kindiki, who focuses on Political Economy and Development studies.
He lectures at Maasai Mara University, where he contributes to research and teaching in development and governance-related fields.
Professor Stephen Kithinji
Professor Stephen Kithinji Kindiki is a respected linguistics scholar. He teaches at Daystar University.
His academic work covers areas such as English Grammar, Phonology, Language Acquisition, Psycholinguistics, and Sociolinguistics. Over the years, he has helped train many students in language and communication studies.
Professor Isaiah Iguna
Professor Isaiah Iguna Kindiki is a specialist in Soil Science. Besides his academic achievements, he also holds a senior leadership role in higher education.
He currently serves as the Vice Chancellor of KCA University.
Kithure Kindiki’s Academic Journey
While he is best known for his political career, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki also has a strong educational background similar to that of his brothers.
Kindiki scored a C grade in the KCSE examinations, but he continued his studies and pursued law. He later earned a Diploma in Legal Studies from the Kenya School of Law and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Moi University.
He further advanced his education by obtaining a Master of Laws (LL.M) and later a PhD in International Law from the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
Today, Kindiki stands out not only as a senior government leader but also as a member of a family that has produced several distinguished scholars.
