Nigerian Socialite Elena Jessica Dies After Complications From Second BBL Surgery in Lagos

A Nigerian socialite identified as Elena Jessica has reportedly died after suffering complications linked to a second Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery in Lagos.

According to reports circulating on social media, the procedure was carried out at Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Clinic located in Ikoyi. Elena is said to have previously undergone several cosmetic surgeries before deciding to go for another BBL operation.

Her sister revealed that Elena visited the clinic on February 6 for a procedure that involved liposuction and the transfer of fat to different parts of her body, including her hips, buttocks, and calves.

However, just two days after the operation, she allegedly began experiencing severe pain around the areas where the surgery had been performed.

Medical tests reportedly showed that her white blood cell count had risen abnormally while her blood level had dropped significantly. As a result, doctors had to transfuse five pints of blood in an attempt to stabilize her condition.

Despite being placed on antibiotics, her health reportedly failed to improve. Doctors later suggested performing another procedure to remove excess fat, but her condition continued to deteriorate.

At some point, the medical team reportedly advised that Elena be transferred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) for advanced treatment.

However, the family reportedly struggled to secure a bed at the facility. According to her sister, Elena remained inside an ambulance for nearly five hours while in severe pain as they searched for a hospital that could admit her.

She was later moved to Emel Hospital in Festac, where the family was reportedly asked to pay N1.5 million for a single day in the intensive care unit.

From there, she was transferred again to another hospital where surgeons were available. Doctors allegedly estimated that removing the infected fat while she was in the ICU would cost around N6 million.

Her sister explained that the family had to sell some of Elena’s personal belongings to raise money for treatment as she was battling sepsis, a dangerous infection that spreads through the bloodstream.

She further accused the clinic where the surgery was carried out of abandoning Elena during the medical crisis. According to her, the family had already sold several properties in an attempt to cover the growing hospital bills.

The situation became even more difficult because their father is retired and had limited financial resources to support the treatment.

Later, the family reportedly received another demand of N4.5 million to continue Elena’s medical care, but they were unable to raise the required funds.

Sadly, Elena Jessica later passed away, a development that has sparked widespread reactions from Nigerians on social media, with many expressing shock and calling for caution regarding cosmetic surgeries.
