The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced 1,000 internship opportunities under the Ministry of Education’s State Department for Basic Education.
The internships are part of Cohort 5 of the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP). Successful applicants will be deployed to schools through Sub-county Education offices, where they will support digital learning and gain practical work experience.
The internship will run for 12 months and will not be renewed. Interns will also receive a monthly stipend at a rate determined by the government.
Requirements for the PSC Internship
To qualify, applicants must:
Have graduated in 2022 or later.
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education specialising in ICT, a Bachelor’s degree in ICT, a Diploma in ICT, or a Diploma in ICT Integration in Education from a recognised institution.
Know about networking and infrastructure, application development, information security, and project management.
Be able to integrate ICT into education, including e-learning and digital content development.
Have skills in research and innovation to support the Digital Literacy Programme.
Be willing to work full-time and accept deployment to any Sub-county Education office.
Have not previously benefited from a similar internship programme.
Duties of the Interns
Those selected will help schools improve the use of technology in teaching and learning. Their responsibilities will include:
Supporting e-learning and digital content development.
Training and assisting primary school teachers in using digital learning devices.
Supporting the implementation of the Digital Literacy Programme.
Helping schools develop innovations that improve digital learning.
Promoting the safe, secure, and ethical use of technology.
Assisting teachers to integrate ICT into teaching, learning, and assessment.
Supporting the development of school policies and procedures.
Providing first-line ICT support and maintenance in schools.
Internship Duration and Stipend
The internship will last 12 months and is non-renewable. Successful interns will receive a stipend at a rate determined by the government.
Upon completing the programme, interns will be awarded a certificate by the State Department for Basic Education.
