The Luo community in Kenya has produced several wealthy individuals who have invested in diverse businesses and own valuable properties. Many of these entrepreneurs prefer to stay out of the public eye, quietly growing their wealth while contributing to the economy.
Below is a list of some of the richest Luos in Kenya and where their wealth comes from:
1. Benard Odote
Benard Odote is one of Kenya’s quietly successful billionaires. He runs the Odote Group of Companies, which has investments in sectors like agriculture technology, energy, finance, logistics, healthcare, automotive, and retail.
Odote is known for his visionary approach to business, aiming to transform industries with innovation and focus. Despite his wealth, he keeps a low profile, letting his businesses speak for him.

2. Evans Kidero
Former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero, originally from Homa Bay County, is a well-known entrepreneur and property owner. Reports by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) suggest his properties and businesses could be valued at over KSh 9 billion.

4. Gor Semelang’o

After his passing in 2021, his children – Charles Nyachae, Angela Nyarangi, and Erick Maina – became the executors and administrators of his estate, continuing to manage and grow the family’s wealth.
