Two More Kenyans Fighting for Russia Found Dead in Ukraine War

Ukrainian Defence Intelligence has confirmed the recovery of the bodies of two Kenyan nationals who had been recruited by Russia to fight in the ongoing war in Ukraine.

According to a statement released by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), the bodies were discovered near the city of Lyman in the Donetsk region, an area that has witnessed intense fighting between Ukrainian and Russian forces.

Identities of the Deceased Kenyans Revealed

The two Kenyans have been identified as Ombwori Denis Bagaka, aged 39, and Wahome Simon Gititu, aged 35. Ukrainian authorities disclosed that Ombwori was born on January 30, 1987, while Wahome was born on May 21, 1991.

Their remains were reportedly found close to the body of another Kenyan national, Clinton Nyapara Mogesa, who had earlier been confirmed dead in the same region while fighting alongside Russian forces.

Recruitment in Qatar

Ukrainian intelligence revealed that the three Kenyans were recruited in Qatar, where they were working for private security firms. The agencies allegedly promised lucrative and stable incomes, which is believed to have influenced their decision to join the conflict.

Investigators stated that the identities of the deceased were confirmed through passports and other identification documents recovered from their bodies at the battlefield.
