Youth Empowerment Fund Opens KSh 750K Grants for Kenyans

Young people in Kenya now have a big opportunity to get funding for their ideas after the Youth Empowerment Fund (YEF) officially opened applications for its 2026 grants.

The fund is targeting youth-led projects and is offering up to KSh 750,000 to successful applicants. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2026.

Who Can Apply for the Youth Fund?

The program is open to young people aged 14 to 30 years. You can apply as:

An individual
A youth group (chama)
A registered youth-led organisation

Kenyan youth are encouraged to apply alongside others from eligible countries.

How Much Money Can You Get?

The amount you receive depends on the type of application:

Individuals and small groups: KSh 75,000 to KSh 225,000
Registered organisations: Up to KSh 750,000

This funding is meant to support projects that solve problems in local communities.

What Type of Projects Are Needed?

The Youth Empowerment Fund is looking for projects that focus on:

Community development
Climate change and environmental protection
Helping vulnerable groups

Special priority is given to:

Youth from poor or marginalized communities
People living with disabilities
Projects supporting gender equality
Communities affected by climate change

All projects must align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
