KNEC Opens Online Results Checker Ahead of January 2026 KCSE Release
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has activated the online KCSE results checker, just weeks before the official release of the 2025 results, expected in the first two weeks of January 2026.
Candidates will be able to check their results using their admission number and full registered name once KNEC makes the results public. This portal is part of KNEC’s digital services for secondary school students.
The 2025 KCSE exams were conducted smoothly from October 21 to November 21, 2025. Oral and practical exams started on October 21, while written papers ran from November 4 to November 21. A total of 996,078 candidates were registered for this year’s exams.
The 2025 KCSE cycle was part of a national assessment period covering over 3.4 million learners across KCSE, KPSEA (Kenya Primary School Education Assessment), and the new KJSEA (Kenya Junior School Education Assessment).
The Ministry of Education reported 418 cases of exam malpractice this year, down from 614 cases in 2024. Investigations are ongoing, and offenders may face prosecution or results cancellation.
CS Ogamba Warns Against Fake Results
Education CS Julius Migos Ogamba confirmed that the KCSE 2025 results will be out in January 2026. He also warned the public to ignore fake reports circulating on social media claiming the results are already out or naming Kapsabet High School as the top school.
“Treat such fake news with the contempt it deserves,” CS Ogamba said, urging students and parents to rely on official channels.
Marking and Integrity Measures
The marking of 2025 KCSE papers was completed on December 13, 2025, with 32,558 examiners working across 40 marking centres nationwide. KNEC introduced enhanced security measures, including digital locks for exam containers and a ban on mobile phones in exam centres, to ensure credible results.
The 2025 KCSE exams are among the last cycles under the 8-4-4 system, as Kenya fully transitions to the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system starting January 2026. Under the new system, Grade 9 learners will move to senior school.
Once released, the 2025 KCSE results will help guide students into universities, colleges, and other tertiary institutions under the government’s 100% transition policy.
