10 Counties Expected to Have the Highest Number of Voters in 2027

As Kenya prepares for the upcoming 2027 General Election, leaders across the country are encouraging citizens to register as voters early.
Many politicians and aspiring candidates are asking their supporters to ensure they have valid voter cards. One popular campaign pushing this message is the “Niko Kadi” initiative, which has become widely known both online and in communities.
Top leaders, including William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua, have already supported the campaign to motivate more Kenyans, especially young people, to register.
Counties Expected to Lead in Voter Numbers
With voter registration expected to increase, some counties are likely to record the highest number of voters in the 2027 election.
Nairobi is projected to lead with about 3 million voters, making it the top voting region in the country. The capital city is known for its diverse population, bringing together people from different backgrounds.
Kiambu County is expected to follow with around 2 million voters.

Previous Election Data
During the last election in 2022, Nairobi had over 2.4 million registered voters, followed by Kiambu County with more than 1.2 million voters.
Other counties such as Nakuru County, Kakamega County, and Meru County also recorded high numbers.
In total, Kenya had over 22 million registered voters in the previous General Election.
What This Means for 2027
With ongoing voter registration campaigns, the number of voters is expected to grow even higher before 2027.
