Ena Coach Increases Bus Fare After New Fuel Prices in Kenya

One of Kenya’s well-known transport companies, Ena Coach, has increased its bus fares following the latest rise in fuel prices announced by Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

The company said the decision was necessary because the cost of running buses has gone up.

New Bus Fares Announced

According to Ena Coach, passengers travelling from Nairobi to upcountry towns through Narok will now pay KSh 1,700, up from KSh 1,500.

Other new fares include:

  • Nairobi to Nakuru route: KSh 1,800
  • Nairobi to Mombasa: KSh 2,000
  • Kisii to Kisumu: KSh 700
  • Mombasa to upcountry routes: KSh 3,000 (from KSh 2,500)

The company confirmed that the new prices have started immediately.

Why the Fare Has Increased

Ena Coach explained that the fare increase comes after a sharp rise in fuel prices under the April–May 2026 review.

EPRA recently raised fuel prices as follows:

  • Super Petrol increased by KSh 28.69 per litre
  • Diesel increased by KSh 40.30 per litre
  • Kerosene price remained the same

The new prices are:

  • Petrol: KSh 206.97 per litre
  • Diesel: KSh 206.84 per litre
  • Kerosene: KSh 152.78 per litre

These prices took effect from April 15 to May 14, 2026.

Company Speaks to Customers

Ena Coach said it understands that the new fares may affect passengers, but the move was made carefully to keep services running smoothly.

The company added that it remains committed to:

  • Passenger safety
  • Reliable transport services
  • High service standards

Impact on Kenyans

The fuel price increase is expected to affect many sectors in Kenya. Transport costs are usually the first to rise, and this may lead to higher prices of goods and services across the country.

Even though the government had earlier said fuel supply is stable, the new price changes have caused concern among many Kenyans.
